(Sentence 1)Almost anything can be described by a metaphor because everything can be compared to something. (Sentence 2)Though everyone is unique, we all resemble something or someone else. (Sentence 3)Metaphors can describe not only your physical characteristics, but your personality and characteristics as well. (Sentence 4)A “red little rooster” is a good Metaphor for Bob Ewell because it fits his personality perfectly.

(TS)Harper Ann Lee used what she thought to be the perfect metaphor for Bob Ewell because he really does act like a red little rooster. (SD)When Mr.Ewell was on trial he was very sure of himself. (CM)The way he reacted to Atticus questioning him showed how confident he was that he could outsmart everyone. (CM)His confidence was the key part to the metaphor because he was practically puffing his chest out with confidence just like a fresh rooster would. (SD)Mr.Ewells confidence in himself earned him a good metaphor, but nothing else. (CM)If Mr.Ewell had stopped acting like a red little rooster he might have done better in court. (CM)Because he was acting so confident, like no one could figure him out, Atticus had an advantage over him. (CS)Bob Ewell was no better than a little red rooster in this chapter because he honestly thought he could successfully lie to the court, but in reality, Atticus could see right through him.

(CS)I believe almost anything can be described by a metaphor, including myself. It can be hard trying to decipher what kind of metaphor you are, because you have to be able to look at yourself from every angle. (SD)I think the best metaphor f\to describe me is a miscellaneous cat. (CM)I love to watch people, to observe what they are doing just like a cat sits and watches everything around it. (CM)Though I am not as good at this as the cat, I can only keep it up for a few minutes before I get bored. (SD)I am also like a cat because I love to play. (CM)A cat has many aspects in its life, sometimes it likes to play, sometimes it just wants to relax and watch. (CM)The playful side of the cat is the more dominant part of me, I love to spend time with my friends and laugh. (CS)Though I am satisfied with my metaphor there are probably hundreds of others that could fit me better because I have so many different parts of me

(Sentence 1)We are all different, but some of us share a common trait. (Sentence 2)This ties in with metaphors because everything can be related to something else in some way. (Sentence 3)If a rooster could be used to compare someone’s personality, then there are thousands of things that could describe everyone on the planet. (Sentence 4)The only real challenge is finding out what personality traits we hold. Looking at ourselves in an inhuman way can be good. If we don’t like the character that perceives us, we can strive to change it.

(TS)Irony is a big part of every one's lives. Not all of the characters in To Kill a Mocking Bird realize that.(SD)Scout got a large dose of irony in one night.(CM)Even though Scout had no idea she was jumping into a group of unfamiliar men, she still did what most would think was impossible.(CM)It wasn't until after when she realized the irony in this; and instead of making her laugh, it made her cry.(SD)When Scout was listening to Atticus and Aunt Alexandra talking about Calpurnia, she thought they were talking about her.(CM)She was sure that everyone loved Cal just as much as she did, so it seemed impossible that anyone would want to get rid of her.(CM)The irony in this is sad, because Scout loves Cal, but she might have to leave if everyone else says they don't.(SD)When Uncle Jack was looking up the Finch's heritage, he said that he could trace back very far; but for "all he knows we mighta come straight out of Ethiopia durin' the Old Testament."(Lee, 216).(CM)It's interesting to see how the Finch's try so hard to make sure that they are white, but they can't be sure.(CM)It's ironic how they try so hard to be better than a race of people, but all the same they might be one of them.(CS)Irony is something we all experience at one point or another. Some things don't seem ironic until after they have happened; and sometimes they don't seem ironic at all because it can have a negative outcome. But we all have to realize that it's just part of life, and it was always there, we just never noticed it before.

(TS)Irony is something we all have to live with. Coincidence, for example, can be considered as a form of irony. (SD)A small irony in my life is that I love to eat curry, a tasty spice from India, but I am allergic to it. (CM)I have always loved to eat chicken and curry, but every time I would consume it, I would get the worst stomach aches. (CM)When I found out I was allergic, I was very upset at the fact I would no longer be able to eat my favorite Indian foods because of this inconvenient allergy. The irony at the time seemed very strong to me only because I was so frustrated with myself. (SD)Another life that is affected on a large scale by irony is my mother. (CM)My mother loves animals and furry creatures very much. But she is actually very allergic to some. (CM)This was always a problem for her; any time I would want to get a furry pet other than a dog she would have to say no. her allergy has since become a less dominant part of her life; she can be near most of her furry friends without getting sick. (SD) The human race in general can live a very ironic life. (CM)Many people think that to be happy, you must be rich. (CM)But the truth is most people who are rich are very unhappy. If you turn on any celebrity news show I can guaranty you that you will see at least five people whose lives are ruined because of the money they make.(CS)Most people find fault in irony, that it makes them sad or mad, but really it’s just the way you look at it. Irony should be seen as something to laugh at. When things do not go your way and irony takes the front row seat, you should laugh at the amusing parts of it and forget the rest.

(TS)When I was asked the question "What have you improved on in English class?" there was so many things I could have blurted out.(SD)One of the things English class has helped me with is my writing.(CM)Before 8th grade English, my writing was okay, but it was very disorganized and messy.(CM)Mr.Salsich has helped me with his 11 sentence formula. This formula is strict, but we have room to move inside it and make each essay special.(SD)One of the biggest things English class has helped me with is with me imagination.(CM)By choosing a theme for our essays we have to stretch our minds and make each paragraph unique.(CM)Mr.Salsich encouraged picking a strange theme to follow and see if we could somehow relate it to the book. This helped me so much, it was hard at first, but now I can think of strange themes and make them seem like they were meant to fit all along.(SD)Even having learned all these helpful techniques, there are still areas i need to improve on.(CM)I need to learn now to stop and take the time to check over my work and make sure each chunk flows smoothly.(CM)If I can do this, my grade amongst many other things will be improved.(TS)English class this year has tought me so much, probably more than anyother grade so far. With each class I learn new tecniques and styles, but with every class I also find new ways to improve on my writing.

(Sentence 1)Fear is something we all have to deal with on a daily basis.(Sentence 2)We get scared form many things; a friend sneaking up on us or a spider crawling up your arm.(Sentence 3)But we all have to face something scarier at one point in our lives.(Sentence 4)When we are truly afraid for our lives, we suddenly forget all the petty fears we have and put things into perspective.

(TS)We are all afraid of something whether it's something some might see silly, or very serious.(SD)I am afraid of many things, one of which are spiders.(CM)Some people might say that there is no reason to fear spiders because they cannot do you any real harm, but I am still afraid all the same.(CM)Even I know that it's silly to be so terrified of something so small, but just like so many other people, I shriek with terror every time I see one.(SD)I also have a fear that is much more serious than spiders.(CM)Every day I am faced with the fear that I might get sick again.(CM)I have problems with my digestive tract that are always coming and going. They sometimes don't show up for months at a time, but when they do, it can get very painful.(SD)The only thing that frightens me more that spiders and belly pain is the ever present feeling of protection over my family.(CM)I am always faced with the fear that something might happen to the ones I care about.(CM)This is not something I can control nor want to because it gives me just a small amount of comfort to know that I will always be ready to help the ones I love.(CS)Fear is an ever present emotion, but without it we would be reckless and thoughtless.

(TS)I have had many scary experiences throughout my life, but one that really sticks out was when I had to spend a little over a month in the hospital.(SD)I was six when I first got sick and the doctors didn't know what was wrong with me.(CM)I was truly terrified when they started saying words like "cancer" and "exploratory surgery".(CM)I remember feeling so helpless because all I could do was lie in my bed and sleep because the pain medications prevented anything else.(SD)I skipped from hospital to hospital trying to figure out why I was so sick; I remember sitting in a taxi, hunched over in pain while we rushed to the hospital.(CM)The doctors had no answers as to why I was in so much pain, and they weren't sure which directions they should head in.(CM)They performed procedures that involved a camera to see what was happening to the organs. These happened on a regular basis for several weeks.(SD)I was lucky though, they came up with an answer that seemed to fit.(CM)It turned out that I had experienced an acute pancreatitus, a very painful inflammation of the pancreas.(It was good that the doctors had figured this out when they did because I was scheduled for exploratory surgery in a few days and it would have been completely unnecessary.(CS)I was in the hospital for just over a month, and it was the most terrifying month of my life. Not knowing whether of not you'll wake up tomorrow is truly horrifying.

(Sentence 1)We all have something to fear.(Sentence 2)Some of us claim we are not afraid of anything, but how can that be true?(Sentence 3)How would we stand if we had nothing to fear?(Sentence 4)We probably would have died long ago if the presence of self preservation that is accompanied with fear was no longer with us.

(Sentence 1)Privacy is an essential part of our existence.(Sentence 2)We see it, use it, and rely on it much more that we think.(Sentence 3)With out it, we would not be able to function properly because of the way we saw others.(Sentence 4)Privacy keeps our personal opinions separate from the rest of the world and keeps our feelings from those who do not need to hear them.

(TS)Privacy is something that can be hard for some, and easy for others.(SD)In the book To Kill a Mocking Bird, most of the main characters find out that at different times, privacy can be just as hard to deal with as it is easy.(CM)To the people of Maycomb, Boo Radley is well known by the descriptions people give him.(CM)He has been able to perfect the art of privacy and now has people coming up with their own gossip, which leaves him to do whatever he pleases(SD)When Scout notices that Walter Cunningham pours molasses on his food she immediately called him on it, making him feel uncomfortably.(CM)If she had taken more time to think about her action, she might have realized that it was an invasion of privacy to ask a question in such a blunt manor.(CM)Walter was probably embarrassed about the way he lives, and didn't want to discuss the subject anywhere but the privacy of his own home.(SD)Another example of how people learn about privacy is when Atticus caught the children in the middle their next plan.(CM)Atticus did not approve of the plan and told them to "...stop tormenting the man."The children wanted to keep their plan private from Atticus so they could continue on with what they were planning on doing with out any complications.(CS)This chapter is a good example of how privacy can be so hard to maintain when other people do not cooperate.
(TS)Privacy is a much more potent force that we think.(SD)"We are rapidly entering the age of no privacy, where everyone is open to surveillance at all times; where there are no secrets...".(CM)This quote by William Orville Douglass is very true and means we are loosing the ability to keep information and emotions private.(CM)We have to start being more careful about what we let slip when we talk because private information is seeping in casual conversations and disintegrating our privacy.(SD)We also use privacy to manipulate people.(CM)By holding information that others want, we can get information that we want much easier.(CM)This shows just how much other peoples thoughts matter.(SD)We as people care far to much for other peoples thoughts.(CM)We are so obsessed with knowing them, they start to take over our lives.(CM)If there was no privacy in the world, we would be completely possessed by the now public thoughts of the people around us, turning us into brainwashed, self conscience fools that no longer realize the important things in life.(CS)To have privacy is a good thing because with out it, we would be very distracted and not be able to archive our very best.

(Sentence 1)We need privacy to survive.(Sentence 2)Without it, we would be constantly worrying about what other people were thinking that we wouldn't get anything done.(Sentence 3)In the book To Kill a Mocking Bird, we see how different people use privacy and different people respond to it.(Sentence 4)It's just another one of those things you can't live with too much or to little of.
2nd Body Paragraph Outline

CM-Everything we say revels something about ourselves
CM-We have to be careful not to let information that we would rather keep private slip, it is becoming harder and harder to do
SD-Privacy can be used to manipulate people
CM-We can hold private thoughts from people until we get some information we want
CM-We would do almost anything to get something we cannot have but so desperately want like the private thoughts about you
SD-We feel like the thoughts of others are so important
CM-We let this rule certain parts of our lives
CM-If we did not have privacy, we would be completely ruled by the now public thoughts of others

(TS)Atticus believes that education is essential to anyone who can obtain it.(SD)Atticus never had the opportunity to be taught in a school as a child, so he wants his children to have this privilege.(CM)He will make Scout go to school because he knows that if she gets a good education, she can do a lot better than he does.(CM)He also explains the importance of school to Scout, an intelligent child with a natural ability to back up her arguments with true facts, saying that she needs to learn, and some things are better taught in a class room.(SD)Scout argues with her father about not having to go to school and incorporates the Ewells in her argument.(CM)Atticus patiently explains "They can go to school anytime they want to, when they show the faintest symptom of wanting an education,"(Lee, 40).(CM)When Scout asks why the law can be changed just for the Ewells, Atticus explains that people in different situations sometimes get to live with a different set of rules that the rest of the people do.(SD)When Atticus brings up Scout and her reading, Scout explains what her teacher had told her about the subject.(CM)Although he respects her teachers rules, Atticus want the best for his children, and tells Scout to keep on reading.(CM)The only way Scout can do this is by not telling her teacher, and Atticus explains what a compromise is, saying that as long as she continues to go to school, she can read.(CS)Atticus's dedication to his children's education is amazing and he will not be swayed on certain aspects of this subject.

Guests
An Essay on the Book To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Ann Lee
(Sentence 1)Every one is different and they believe in different things.(Sentence 2)This means every one has different rules that they set for themselves, the way they treat company is a good example of this.(Sentence 3)People set standards for themselves, but adults and parents set standards for children, and expect them to live by these standards.(Sentence 4)Calpurnia, for example, believes that you must treat the guest in your house with respect, even if they are bad, of you are just as bad as they are.
(TS)Calpurnia believes that you must treat your guests with the utmost respect, even if you believe you are better than them.(SD)Calpurnia made her opinion on the subject very clear by saying "Yo' folks might be better than the Cunninghams, but it don't count for nothin' the way you're disgracin' 'em...".(CM)Though Scout didn't like what Calpurnia had to say, she only said it because the way you treat people reflects on you, so treating people poorly will only make you look abominable.(SD)Atticus is a good example of what Calpurnia believes in.(CM)He helped the Cunninghams even when they couldn't pay for his services, he was doing something good for someone, even if he might not have thought they deserved it.(CM)This shows that he and Calpurnia both have a strong sense of right and wrong, and both act upon these senses on a daily basis.(SD)Children learn by example, they watch the ones around them and pick up habits without even noticing it.(CM)Not every one treats others with respect, and Atticus and Calprurnia can't control ever different kind of person Scout is exposed to.(CM)It is important to Atticus that Scout learns to treat others with respect, whether she feels they deserve it, or not.(CS)Respect is a very important attribute to have because when you treat people with respect, they're not the only ones affected by it.
(TS)I love to have people come over to my house so we can spend time together.(SD)My guests are always welcome, but some don't know when to leave.(CM)My mother once had a few friends over for dinner and coffee.(CM)We were having a lot of fun, but it was getting late and we were getting tired.(SD)They ended up staying over very late, but we didn't ask them to leave because we thought that would be rude.(CM)We were trying to entertain them because they were our guests, but it was almost 11:30.(CM)Finally they left saying it was late and they had to get to bed.(CS)We were very tired, but we hadn't asked our guests to leave because we were raised to treat our guests like that.
(Sentence 1)We were all raised differently.(Sentence 2)The way we were raised effects how we act and treat people we know.(Sentence 3)We also have our own beliefs and rules for ourselves.(Sentence 4)Since we all are different, we treat all of our guests differently, whetherit's with respect, or disrespect.

The Rich and the Poor
An Essay on the Book To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Ann Lee
(Sentence 1)All people are different in the way that they live.(Sentence 2)Some are wealthy, some are poor, and the rest of us fall somewhere in between.(Sentence 3)In To Kill a Mocking Bird, all of these categories apply.(Sentence 4)Through Scout, we see how people's lives are affected by the living that they make.

(TS)In To Kill a Mocking Bird, all the children lives differently from each other.(SD)The Cunninghams, like many other families, are different.(CM)Walter, for example, doesn't have a lot of money.(CM)His family can't afford to give him anything for lunch, so he usually goes with out, even when people offer him something.(SD)Walter and the rest of the Cunningham's don't have a lot of money to go around in their family.(CM)This can create many problems in the subject of their survival.(CM)They were lucky enough that Atticus was kind enough to let them pay him back in things like holly and stove wood.(SD)Scout, on the other hand, lives quite comfortably with her brother and father.(CM)She has a roof over her head, a maid to do the house work, and food on her plate.(CM)She is very fortunate to have these things when most don't.(CS)Hunger is a problem that most have to face in Scout's little town, but some, like Scout and her family, have more than most and choose to help the ones who truly need it.

(TS)Hunger is a big problem all over the world.(SD)Even though it does not effect me directly, I still take it very seriously.(CM)So many people go without, and those of us who have enough can do more than we think we can to help.(CM)By helping the people in need we are doing something great, whether it's giving food to a homeless shelter, or helping a neighboring family, it all makes a difference.(SD)We live in a sheltered community and although we acknowledge that there are problems around the world and even help to fix these problems, its not very often than we got to see them first hand.(CM)When we go to other countries or even other states, we get a feel for the way the people live, whether they are rich or poor.(CM)Going to these places can really show us just how fortunate we are to have something as simple as food or shelter.(SD)In a world like ours, poverty and hunger are inevitable.(CM)We have so much greed and hate, I'm sometimes surprised we can act somewhat civilized when we need to.(CM)Greed and hate can make us blind sometimes that we forget what is important, like helping those in need and those who cannot help themselves.(CS)People look down on those who are impoverished, and helping can show that we care about more that just ourselves.
(Sentence 1)Seeing the world through Scouts perspective, we see how adults and children may view the same situation differently.(Sentence 2)Scout, as a child, sees the world as a much simpler place that adults do, and is able to clearly see that something is right of wrong.(Sentence 3)Adults, on the other hand, sometimes see the world through prejudiced eyes.(Sentence 4)The money that people make can unfortunately affect how they are viewed by others.

Memories

An Essay About To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee

(surprising statement)We have so many memories, it sometimes seems like we could write a novel. (CM)Memories are a huge part of our lives, we tell them to others so we can re-live a certain time. (CM)We tell friends and family about our memories so we can make a memory with them. (statement of main point)In the bookTo Kill A Mocking Bird, by Harper Lee tells us about all of her memories with her friends and family, wether they are good, or bad.

(TS)Harper Lee, like many people, wrote a book about an important memory in her life. (SD)She told the story by telling other little memories about her friends and family.(CM)An example of this would be in the first chapter when she talks about the different people in her life at the time.(CM)These memories are part of the whole, and help put the big picture together.(SD)When she writes about her memories, she uses a technique I've never seen before.(CM)She can write her memories in a way that makes you question her age when writing that specific part of the book.(CM)This style of writing brings her memories together in a way that makes them flow easier and brings everything together.(SD)Finally, the way she lived made her memories very different from the ones we are used to hearing.(CM)Living in the mid-20th century, she was rased differently than most of the people now a days.(CM)This makes her story more interesting because of the way she lived.(CS)In this book Harper Lee was very good at making the most of her memories, and putting them into a story so others could experience them.

(TS)In my life, memories are a huge part of who I am.(SD)For instance, when i am with my friends and family, we like to share funny memories with each other.(CM)We enjoy doing this because it brings us closer together.(CM)We learn a lot about each other when we do this and we form newer, stronger bonds.(SD)With out our memories to share, what would we have to talk about?(CM)We share our memories with so many people daily with out even noticing.(CM)Wether we're talking about what we did on the weekend, or what used to love to do when we were five, we are sharing our memories with one another.(SD)When I meet someone new, I share memories with out even really thinking about it.(CM)I do it naturally, sharing our memories is what we do to het people to trust us.(CM)We don't even do it on purpose, but when someone shares something personal, you naturally so the same.(CS)With out the ability to share memories, we would be completely different from the way we are now.

(sentance1)Memories are a very important part of our lives.(sentace2)We tell them to others so we can think back on a different time.(sentance3)We also tell them to people we don't know to make new bonds with them.(sentance4)InTo Kill A Mocking BirdHarper Lee does an amazing job of telling her memories, we hear her explain them all, wether they are happy or painful.
